Your child does not need to be a student to enroll

The SAMBA Dependent Children Health Benefit Plan (DHBP) is designed to provide health coverage for your child age 22 through age 26, at very affordable rates.

The benefits under the DHBP are the same as offered to you under the federal SAMBA Standard Option Health Benefit Plan.

Eligibility Requirements

You must be enrolled in the federal SAMBA Health Benefit Plan to enroll your child in the SAMBA DHBP, and your child must be:

  • age 22 through age 26
  • Unmarried
  • Wholly dependent on you for support and maintenance (explain)
  • Enrolled within 15 days of their 22nd birthday, during the Plan's Open Season, or when a qualifying eligibility event occurs (explain).

SAMBA invites you to compare the benefits and premiums available through the FEHBP Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC) to SAMBA's non-FEHB Dependent Children Health Benefit Plan. We are sure you will agree this is the best value.

NOTE: Coverage under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEBHP) for a dependent child generally terminates when a child reaches age 22.

Dental and Vision Care Program

If you are enrolled in SAMBA's Dental and Vision Care Plan, you can enroll your child between the ages of 22 up through age 26 in the Dental and Vision Care Plan. Your child does not have to be enrolled in the Dependent Children Health Benefit Plan to join the Dental and Vision Care Plan, and you can enroll your child at any time.

Premium Rates

The premium for each child covered under this Plan is $21 biweekly or $45.50 monthly.
