What is SAMBA LegalRx®?

It is a legal insurance policy that provides access to attorneys for advice and reimbursement of legal costs, including toll-free telephone legal advice and reimbursement for Network Attorney visits and representation for wills, adoptions, consumer protection, tenant protection issues and identity theft. With the SAMBA LegalRx plan you can take advantage of the many levels of service and benefits we offer. From our online Law Guide to Do-It-Yourself Legal Documents to telephone attorneys, even in-office visits and representation for covered matters, SAMBA LegalRx has the coverage you need to meet your legal needs.

If you have questions about how the SAMBA LegalRx plan can work for you call our Customer Care Center at 800-378-9167 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Central time and a Customer Care Counselor will answer any questions you may have. To ensure the best care possible, be sure to let the Customer Care Counselor know you are inquiring about SAMBA LegalRx.

Identity Theft Services

Plan members will receive toll-free access to an identity theft case manager who will:

  • Explain what identity theft is and how to prevent it
  • Provide resources to minimize and recover from identity theft
  • Explain relevant plan coverages and provide attorney referral

Immigration Assistance

Plan members receive toll-free telephone access to an immigration case manager who will provide educational materials, explain the immigration benefit and monitor and assist plan members as they deal with immigration issues.

Members also receive toll-free telephone advice from a law firm that will be available for plan member immigration issues. They will receive assistance with the following:

  • General immigration process education and guidelines
  • Advice on filing applications or petitions, including which forms should or should not be filed.
  • Laws and regulations governing various types of immigration benefits, including asylum, adjustment of status, business visas and employment authorizations.
  • Advice and information to individuals facing deportation and removal proceedings.
  • Breaking issues in immigration law including changes in the law and programs for immigration benefits.

For immigration matters that can't be handled over the phone, or if a plan member needs to see a state-specific attorney, our Network Attorneys will offer up a reduced rate of up to 25% off their normal rates for specific review, preparation or representation-based immigration services. The Network Attorneys will bill the plan member directly.

LegalRx - Exclusions

We do not provide coverage for:

  1. Legal services for matters against us, the policyholder, and/or the plan sponsor.
  2. Legal services arising out of your profession, business interests, investment interests, occupation, employment, workers or unemployment compensation, relocation required by an employer, patents or copyrights.
  3. Legal services for the benefit of a person other than you or legal services for other than the named insured against the interests of another insured under the same Certificate.
  4. Costs related to title insurance, title search, title abstracting and any costs other than attorney fees.
  5. Legal representation in class actions, interventions, judgments or court appeal proceedings.
  6. Legal representation deemed by us to be lacking merit or representation that is, in the judgment of the providing attorney, in violation of attorney ethics rules.
  7. Legal services related to any court action which is or can be brought in Small Claims Court or in a similar court of limited jurisdiction.
  8. Legal disputes involving insurance contracts or related to structural damage(s), noise, visual or other intangible hindrances arising out of or affecting real estate property.
  9. Legal disputes arising out of the inheritance law or involving contracts related to family law matters or Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.
  10. Legal services which are eligible to be paid by another party, allowed to be paid by law, involving punitive damage(s) claims, or other matters normally handled by contingency fee.
  11. Matters which are not expressly listed under the Benefits Section of this policy or occur prior to the end of the waiting period.

Reduced Fee Legal Services cannot be provided for:
Exclusions 1-4, and 6 listed above.
Immigration matters, Non-covered immigration matters are available for a reduced fee. Depending on the matter, attorneys will provide reduced fees up to 25%.

Telephone Legal Access Services cannot be provided for:
Exclusions 1-4 listed above.
Matters which, in the opinion of the Telephone Legal Access Law Firm, may not ethically or appropriately be handled over the telephone.
Matters which require, in your and/or the Telephone Legal Access Law Firm's opinion, your personal presence in an attorney's office or your direct and personal representation by another attorney;
Members outside the jurisdiction of the United States of America or Canada.
