Q. What is the purpose of the LegalRx Plan?

A. The purpose of the LegalRx Plan is to give you access to attorneys and other legal resources to help protect your and your entire family from expenses and worries that lifes unexpected legal situations can trigger.

Q. Who is eligible to enroll in this plan?

A. All active and retired federal employees are eligible to enroll at any time. Evidence of insurability is not required.

Q. What are the benefits of the LegalRx Plan?

A. Youll have quick, ongoing access to: telephone consultations with a licensed attorney in your state, calls made or letters written by an attorney on your behalf, document review, standard will preparation, and full legal representation for most covered matters (such as adoption proceedings, tenant protection issues, driver license issues, IRS audit, and more). Youll also receive assistance if you fall victim to identity theft.

Q. Does the plan cover my family too?

A. Yes! You may use the plan for matters that pertain to you and your family for one low premium.

Q. How long after enrolling do I have to wait to use the plan?

A. You are covered as soon as we receive the first premium payment. You can call LegalRx with questions or for information right away. There is no waiting period for legal issues that require payment of a contingency fee, such as personal injury, malpractice, and infliction of emotional distress. For other in-office legal matters, such as adoptions, wills, consumer protection issues, and power of attorney, there is a 90-day waiting period.

Q. I need some legal advice. How do I use the plan?

A. Simply call LegalRx at 1-800-378-9167 and youll be connected to a licensed attorney who will give legal advice or make recommendations on the next legal steps to take.

Q. Can I use any attorney I want?

A. For all in-office legal matters, you have the option of using one of our Network Attorneys or any other attorney you want. If you use a Network Attorney, many services will be paid in full; if you use out-of-network attorneys, you will be reimbursed according to a fee schedule (see the chart under Benefits and Coverages).

Q. Who administers the LegalRx Plan?

A. ARAG Services LLC is the Adminstrator of SAMBAs LegalRx Plan. ARAG has been an industry leader in the delivery of legal services since 1973. They serve 725,000 individuals across the U.S. and maintain a network of thousands of attorneys.

Q. How do I enroll?

A. Download the appropriate enrollment forms, complete them and mail them to SAMBA, 11301 Old Georgetown Road, Rockville, MD 20852.
