Coming Soon…New Underwriter for theSAMBA Long Term Disability Insurance Plan!
We are pleased to announce effective July 1, 2026, The Prudential Insurance Company of America (Prudential) will become the new underwriter for SAMBA’s Long Term Disability (LTD) plan. Prudential, one of the largest disability insurers in the United States was founded more than 150 years ago, has over 75 years in the Association Market, and has an AM Best Rating of A+.
This website will be updated with the new plan information on July 1, 2026, and new enrollments into the plan will begin to be accepted on July 15, 2026.
As of May 4, 2026, new enrollments into the plan will be closed as we make the necessary changes to implement the new LTD plan.
For currently enrolled members who have not filed a claim for a date of disability prior to July 1, 2026, your SAMBA plan will automatically move to the new SAMBA LTD plan underwritten by Prudential.
For those currently on claim, you should have received instructions via a letter to advise on what is needed to continue your claim payments.
If you need to submit a claim prior to July 1, 2026, or if you are currently on claim and did not receive instructions to continue your claim payments, please contact SAMBA.
SAMBA’s Long Term Disability (LTD) plan will help provide income if you are unable to work due to a disabling illness or injury on or off the job.
The LTD plan provides financial security and peace of mind.
Available only to full-time active federal employees.
You are eligible to enroll if you are under age 62, are actively at work* as a permanent full-time employee of a federal agency, and reside in the U.S. at the time of enrollment.
*If your regular place of employment is your home or other residence, you would not be considered actively at work.
Monthly Benefit
The plan will pay up to 65% of your insured salary.
Survivor Benefit
If you die while collecting monthly benefits, a survivor benefit will be paid to your beneficiary.
Return to Work Incentive
Benefits continue if you return to work on a reduced schedule.
In-Hospital Benefit
For each day you or a covered family member is confined in a hospital, the plan pays a daily benefit.
Coverage is based on your salary.
